No MetaWeblog API and no post via IM support yet in MSN Spaces

OK, just watched the demo video and read some more.

The MetaWeblogAPI is not supported so I can't post from Marsedit, BlogJet, etc. Please support the MetaWeblogAPI and the MT extensions so that the hundreds of tools that work with these APIs work with MSN Spaces.

And although I thought I read that MSN Spaces supported blogging via IM, it doesn't. Pity! It would be cool for example to let the author of a blog, update via IM or to let the author's IM buddies post comments to the blog (somehow! not sure how to UI this).

Finally the very smart Dare Obsanjao (check out Dare's MSN Spaces blog) is working on the back end. I am sure Dare's involvement will result in it s*cking less much more quickly since Dare knows blogging, the MetaWeblogAPI, RSS, etc.

HTML editspace seems to work fine on Firefox/Windows. Some nice DHTML implementation of the UI -- drag-and-drop modules around, live layout editing, etc.

And I think the only free hosted service that permits categories.

Vielen Dank Tod!

I updated the previous post.

Roland: Dare is on record as really, really disliking the MetaWeblog API, so don't count on seeing any support for it in MSN Spaces.

Tod: A freebie blog in a JournURL community offers structured categories pre-defined by the community owner *and* del.icio.us-like keyword tagging, which the individual can use to build virtual cats.

Perhaps you misunderstood Tod's comment but users do not get the rich text edit on Windows Firefox. This was confirmed by product manager Mike Torres in response to a comment I left him. Sorry:
