Recording Skype on Mac OS X: WireTap Pro + LineIn is easiest

LineIn + WireTap Pro + Skype = easiest way to record podcasts (and any Mac audio) on Skype as I've said before.

Audio Hijack Pro is awesome if you need its fantastic array of tech geegaws but it's too complicated and hard to use and more expensive for most people who just want to record the audio on their computer (e.g. skype) methinks.

From The MooseHat Blog :: Skype and Podcasting.:

It's true that I don't know an awful lot about podcasting, but Peter Rees pointed me at this article.

Reading it sounded like a really complicated way of doing something simple. There was even a comment about doing this on the Mac. Here I would play with Audio Hijack as a way of capturing the conversation. Although the article is some what old, I like the idea of capturing a skype call as an interview, that I hadn't considered.

Automatic Skype Recording

Hi Roland,

I recommend Call Recorder for Ecamm. It ties into Skype and provides a simple record button interface. It also has automatic recording.

Audio Hijack - too complicated ?

Too complicated? Not convinced I agree. All you do is pick the source app you want to hijack and press record - I'm not sure how much easier it could be. The software actually cost me nothing as I had Audio Hijack for another reason other than podcasts a long time ago ;-) But as I said, I'm no expert :-)

i am willing to be proven wrong

but i still l think linein + wiretap pro is cheaper and easier to use than Audio Hijack Pro for recording skype

and i don't think simply hijacking skype will record BOTH what you are saying and the person you are calling. to record both halves of a skype call is more compliated in Audio Hijack Pro mehthinks. Try it and let me know!
