(via a comment on my blog about Fido Data) Tired of not having A-GPS on my N8 and considering Speakout Wireless's $10 a month pay as you go data ("unlimited" 56 KB/s 3G browsing on a Rogers MVNO). Does it work OK on an N8? Anybody know? tags: speakoutspeakout wirelessunlimited datarogersmvnoagps7-elevenpay as you gomobilemobile data Roland's blog Comments Can you get just the data Can you get just the data portion? It looks like you might have to get a voice pack as well... reply well as long as it doesn't require a voice value plan then it's pay a you go voice which means unless you make or receive voice calls there's no voice charge AFAICT i guess i'll give it a try and see reply A-GPS tiny Most A-GPS implementations are really quite conservative, if the N8 is just using SUPL to get an ephemeris feed you'll be fine. The normal GPS feed is on the order of 50 bits per second, so AGPS will be quite small. If it's getting some other form of predicted data, those'll be between 2 and 60KB and you pull that once a week to once a day. If it's depending on RRLP from the cell phone vendor that's another issue entirely. reply thanks vincent didn't know you knew so much but i should have known :-) hopefully it's SUPL FTW :-) ! reply Add new comment Your name E-mail The content of this field is kept private and will not be shown publicly.
