27 million Soviets died in World War 2
Wow, as they say, respect is due! I have read this in the past (and stories of the American and Russian soldiers hugging each other when the European war was won) but it never really hit home until I read Harold Jarche's comment to Lilia's post. The stories I grew up from my Filipino relatives were all about the Asian war and how brutal the Japanese were (Bataan death march, etc.)
