Pontifications

  • From Federico Pereiro’s very useful backendlore (good stuff about nginx, SSL, redis, node, etc) via Stephen Downes: “Cost - if your application potentially serves a lot of data, S3 cost can be very significant; downloading a GB once currently costs 3-4x the cost of storing it for an entire month. What makes this worse is that it is hard to predict how much data you may use on a given month, so you have an unlimited financial downside. An ideal service would not charge for downloads, just for storage.” <— is this true? Sad face! I’d rather not have unlimited financial downside for personal websites and projects!
